Average weight of Japanese girls declines for 1st time

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The average weight of girls in Japan declined in all age groups from 5 to 17 in the 2011 school year from the previous year for the first time since the government began conducting surveys in the 1948 school year, the education ministry said Thursday.
