Three more patients including a woman died of swine flu at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, taking the death toll to seven this season.
Doctors at SKIMS told Rising Kashmir that two patients including an elderly woman died of H1N1 flu three days back while another 55-year-old male patient lost the battle to swine flu on Sunday.
With three more deaths, the death toll due to swine flu this season has risen to seven.

This seasons? first death by swine flu was reported at SKIMS in the first week of October when a 60-year-old man of Shopian died.

Jan said in previous season (2017-2018) eighteen patients had died due to the flu but this season the deaths have declined.

Comment: The NCDC report of Sep 30 gave a figure of 31 confirmed cases with 10 fatalities for the calendar year to that date. The most recent report (Dec 9) has increased to 57 & 12 respectively. The state counts its season from October to September. 3 fatalities have occurred this calendar year, 2 between Oct1 and Dec 9. The other two deaths must have occurred between Dec 9 and Jan 7. - Ro

Four people have died of swine flu in the Valley in the last 24 hours and one is stated to be critical, but the doctors said the patients had comorbidity and there was nothing alarming as of now about the spread of the disease in the region.

Medical Superintendent of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) said so far, 120 patients had been tested positive with the virus at the hospital since September last year.
?In the last 24 hours, two patients died here. They were old and not in a normal condition. They were having comorbidity, which means they had additional diseases or disorders co-occurring with the primary disease like a cardiac problem,? the doctor said, adding that there was no need to panic as the hospital was well-equipped to deal with the problem.

A 19-year-old boy from Jammu died of swine flu at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, taking the death toll to 12 this season.
A doctor at SKIMS told Rising Kashmir that the teenage boy, who was suffering from leukemia?a cancer of the blood or bone marrow?had also tested positive for H1N1 flu.
?The patient died two days ago due to swine flu,? he said.

Three more patients died of swine flu at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, taking the death toll to 15 this season.
Doctors at SKIMS told Rising Kashmir that two patients died on Tuesday while another patient lost battle to the seasonal virus last week.
All of them had been tested positive for H1N1 flu.

The death toll due to swine flu in Kashmir has risen to sixteen this season with the death of an elderly at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, officials said.
Doctors at SKIMS said a 70-year-old male, who had tested positive for the swine flu virus, died few days back.
Due to fresh death, the death toll due to swine flu in Kashmir this season has risen to sixteen. It includes fourteen deaths at SKIMS and two at SMHS hospital in last five months.

3 Swine Flu deaths in Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 9: Three people have died in last about 10 days due to H1N1, commonly known as Swine Flu, in Jammu Division, putting Government health officials on toes.
?Around 33 patients have been screened for the disease in last about two months out of which four have been found positive so far,? sources in the Health Department said.
They said till date Swine Flu has claimed three lives in Jammu including a five year old child. First death was reported on January 31 from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakrayal (Katra), they said, adding the deceased was identified as Vinod Kumar (53) son of Omkar Nath, resident of Jagti (Nagrota). They said the deceased was earlier admitted in GMC Jammu but he left the Hospital against medical advice without informing the authorities.
Giving details of the 2nd death due to Swine Flu, sources said a five year-old child namely Kaka son of Ghansara Singh of Ramban became 2nd victim of this dreaded disease. He was also suffering from cancer and was under treatment at SMGS Hospital, Jammu. Third death was reported yesterday from GMC Jammu, where a woman namely Tazeen Akhter wife of Mohd Rashid, resident of Bafliaz (Surankote) died of the disease. She was undergoing treatment in Isolation Ward of the Hospital.

The death toll due to swine flu has risen to eighteen in Kashmir with death of two more patients at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, officials said.
An official at SKIMS told Rising Kashmir that two more patients, who had tested positive for H1N1 influenza, died at the institute.
"One among the two was an elderly, who was also suffering from comorbidities," he said.

The death toll due to swine flu has risen to 22 in Kashmir this season with death of four more patients at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, officials said on Saturday.
An official at SKIMS told Rising Kashmir that four more patients, who had tested positive for H1N1 influenza, died at the institute this week.
?Among them were elderly cases, who had been suffering from comorbidities like cancer. They were positive for H1N1," he said.
Due to fresh deaths, the death toll due to swine flu has risen to 22 this season.

SRINAGAR: Family of a Kashmiri dentist Thursday alleged that she died due to medical negligence of doctors at Government Medical College, Jammu who failed to treat her for respiratory illness.
The deceased Meezab Fatima, 25, resident of Delina Baramulla, was an intern at Government Dental College, Jammu. Family sources said she complained of breathlessness and fever last Wednesday.
She was taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu for treatment, where her condition deteriorated.

The spokesman said that the seasonal flu, is a viral infection of the respiratory tract caused by an influenza B virus. Symptoms can include fever, headache, runny nose, sore throat, or cough and chest congestion.
