Chicken Pox outbreak at two St. Catherine lock-ups
Monday, 12 April 2010
There are reports of an outbreak of chicken pox among prisoners at two police lock ups in St. Catherine.

Our news centre understands that the affected facilities are in Bog Walk and Linstead.

In the case of the Bog Walk Lock-Up it is reported that the outbreak was discovered last month.

Cases of the virus were detected at the Linstead Lock-Up last week.

Our news centre understands that two cops who came into contact with prisoners at that facility also contracted the illness.

When our news centre contacted officials of the St. Catherine Health Department on Sunday night, they said the police had not informed them of the outbreak.
