917 have been reported and eight deaths: health authorities
Jalisco, fourth place in the national number of cases of influenza A
Juan Carlos G. Item
Correspondent

Guadalajara, Jal., August 3. Jalisco is located on the fourth place at national level with the highest number of cases of influenza A/H1N1 detected at 917. So far, eight people have died in this evil entity.

On Monday the governor Emilio Gonzalez Marquez opened the Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Health of Mexico, for the timely diagnosis of this condition, situated in the Western General Hospital Zoquipan.

However, the State Health secretary, Alfonso Guti?rrez Carranza, yet acknowledged that it has the necessary accreditation from the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (Indre) of the federal agency.

"What of accreditation, I think, is this month. This depends greatly on the Center for Disease Control in United States because it, in Atlanta, is the one that set the standards on when we send people to training" he said.

Since last May, when the epidemiological alert for influenza A/H1N1, the lab began operating, although the lack of accreditation continues as "bottleneck" to make the diagnosis, because the Indre has to confirm each case to make it official.

According to Guti?rrez Carranza, now the diagnoses made in Mexico have coincided with those of the Indre, located in the capital.

Until yesterday, Jalisco totaled 917 cases and eight deaths from the disease, but the governor said that the institution is below the national average.

"Taking Jalisco almost 7 percent of the population (the country), we have little more than 5 percent of the confirmed cases. That means that health authorities have done well," he said.

In his speech, the president mentioned that equip the Laboratory of Molecular Biology had a cost of more than 18 million pesos, which has the capacity to make 35 thousand a year from influenza detections and 12 thousand of dengue.
