City Sees Drop in Dengue Fever Cases

Intensified activities of the mosquito-nest eradication program (PSN) run by Jakarta capital city government together with the community have been proved effective to reduce the number of dengue fever cases to only 877 cases in January 2011 compared to the same period of last year reaching 1,486 cases. Meanwhile, as of February 16, 2011, 75 cases were recorded, far lower than 1,815 cases in February last year.

Jakarta Health Agency Chief Dien Emmawati said the decrease was below the reduction-target graph. "It`s been declining significantly. But we must remain alert to the outbreak of the disease," said Dien at City Hall, Jakarta, Thursday (2/17)...

Dengue Fever Case Decreasing in North Jakarta

The North Jakarta Administration and its citizens effort to hold mosquito breeding eradication (PSN) has resulted something. Let`s say the number of dengue fever case in that area is decreasing.

Since January to March 2011, the dengue fever case in North Jakarta reached 485 cases or lower compared to same period last year by 723 cases.

Ati Sukmaningsih for North Jakarta Section of Health Control for Sub-dept. of Health stated that dengue fever case is decreasing since the administration and citizens routin to hold PSN. "We must maintain the effort to prevent dengue fever," she stated, Friday (3/4).

According to her, the most dengue fever case during January to March 2011 was in Tanjungpriok sub-district by 135 cases, followed by Koja 95 cases, Kelapagading 91, Cilincing 81, Pademangan 42, and Penjaringan sub-district 41 cases.

As the province level, North Jakarta is in third place for the most dengue fever case with 485 cases. First place is East Jakarta by 1,030 cases, followed by South Jakarta 583 cases, West Jakarta 451 cases, Central Jakarta 324 cases and Thousand Island one case.

Meanwhile, the dengue fever case in North Jakarta during 2010 was 4,784 cases, the highest cases was in Tanjungpriok by 1,318 cases, followed by Koja 916, Kelapagading 873, Cilincing 750, Penjaringan 527, and Pademangan 400 cases.

174 DBD Cases in North Jakarta

From 500 cases of dengue (DBD) reported until March 2011 in North Jakarta, only 174 cases were actually proven dengue. "After we conducted epidemiology research (PE), total amount of DBD patients were only 174 people," said Ati Sukmaningsih, Control Section Chief of North Jakarta Health Agency, Friday (4/1).

In detail, 55 patients were affected on January, 62 patients on February and 57 patients on March. While in the same period last year, the number was higher with 723 cases and total a year was 4.784 cases with 4 patients died...

Dengue Fever Case in Kebayoran Baru Increases

The highest number of dengue fever (DBD) case this year is located in Kebayoran Lama sub-district in South Jakarta area. The dense settlement and lack of attention to the progress of mosquito larvae is supposed to be the cause.

?There are 235 cases of DBD in Kebayoran Lama sub-district from January until December 8, 2011. It is highest in South Jakarta along this year,? expressed Head of South Jakarta Health Sub-Department, Sunday (12/11).
