Ivory Coast: An outbreak of avian influenza declared in the department of Grand-Bassam, measures adopted

An outbreak of avian influenza is declared in the Department of Grand-Bassam precisely in the locality of Mondoukou, region of Sud-Comoé.
According to a prefectural source note, it is an infection of highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5N1.
Said locality is declared a protection zone, a territory of three kilometers from the center of infection detected.
The sanitary measures prescribed in the source of infection and in the protection zone are as follows:
Stamping out of all poultry present; Destruction of poultry corpses and livestock products; Destruction of any material and any waste likely to be contaminated, such as poultry feed; Cleaning and disinfection of farms and their contaminated environment; Prohibition of movements of poultry, products and their derivatives, breeding equipment and food; Closure of subsequent poultry markets and gathering places; Stopping of activities related to the processing, transport, distribution and marketing of poultry, products and by-products.
