#Coronavirus: suspected case in Abidjan under control
Abidjan January 26, 2020
On Saturday January 25, 2020 the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene was alerted by the airport authorities of Abidjan of the presence of a patient in an aircraft of the company Turkish Airlines from Beijing to Abidjan .
She is a 34-year-old Ivorian student who has lived in Beijing for five years and who developed flu-like illness with coughing, sneezing, runny nose and breathing difficulty, which started on January 22, 2020 in Beijing.
A team made up of health professionals from the National Institute of Public Hygiene (INHP), SAMU, the Pasteur Institute of C?te d'Ivoire (IPCI) and the Infectious Diseases Service of the Treichville teaching hospital returned to the airport, upon landing of the plane to take charge of the patient.
According to the procedure, the passenger was transferred to the pandemic cell at F?lix Houphou?t Boigny airport in Abidjan for initial medical examination and treatment. Biological samples were also taken and sent to the IPCI for analysis.
To date, her general condition is satisfactory.
At this stage, there is a suspicion of a case of coronavirus pneumonia. The final diagnosis will be established after the results of the analysis of the samples taken.
The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene reminds the populations of the following prevention measures:
- Avoid close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections;
- Wash your hands frequently, especially after direct contact with sick people or their environment;
- Avoid unprotected contact with farmed or wild animals;
- Use a tissue to sneeze and cough and throw it in a trash can, otherwise sneeze and cough in the elbow and wash your hands regularly with soap and water.
