Ivory Coast announced a cholera outbreak on Thursday, confirming seven deaths from the disease.
Daniel Kouadio Ekra, director of the National Institute of Public Hygiene, confirmed the epidemic, stating that stool analyses carried out by the Pasteur Institute of Côte d'Ivoire had detected a "cholera vibrio" .

Historically vulnerable, Africa is even more threatened as it faces the worst effects of climate change and the El Niño weather phenomenon, according to health experts. "The government calls on the population to remain vigilant, in particular to consume drinking water, to avoid street water bags and to wash their hands regularly ," Kouadio Ekra said on Thursday.
