The Lombardy Welfare Councilor Giulio Gallera communicated the news of the infection.

The man showed up on Thursday in the emergency room of the Codogno hospital in the Lodi area. At the moment the health authorities are reconstructing its movements. Access to the Codogno emergency room and scheduled activities, at a precautionary level, are currently interrupted. People who have been in contact with the patient are being identified and subjected to specific checks and necessary measures.

The health authorities are looking for a way to transport it to the Sacco hospital in Milan - identified with the Spallanzani of Rome as the one suitable for treating these cases - with an ambulance with a high bio-containment such as that used for the 17-year-old boy who returned from China but tested negative for Coronavirus.

Patient zero returned from China

The friend who had returned from China was traced and may have infected the 38-year-old from Codogno. The conditional is a must, because the dates do not coincide. The man is currently in solitary confinement at the Sacco hospital in Milan, where the necessary examinations are being carried out. He is a manager who works in a Fiorenzuola d’Arda company, and who normally spends most of the year in China, with limited periods in Italy. He returned from China between January 20 and 21, but he has always been well (and still is healthy), except February 10, when he had mild flu symptoms. This is why it is still not clear that he was the 'patient zero', above all because too much time has passed.

Coronavirus, the number of infections rises to six: the first are a 38-year-old from Codogno, his wife and a friend. In isolation 250 people

The first six coronavirus infections in Italy: a 38-year-old resident of Codogno and born in Castiglione d'Adda, in the province of Lodi, hospitalized on Wednesday evening in Codogno, tested positive for the coronavirus test. His wife - who is pregnant at the eighth month - and a close acquaintance, both hospitalized in isolation at the Sacco in Milan, were also positive on tests. 'There are six cases of coronavirus positivity in Lombardy, to date we have a large number of people we are working on, to date about 250 people are in isolation and to whom we will buffer', says the Councilor for Welfare of the Lombardy Region, Giulio Gallera. All inpatients have severe pneumonia, the 38-year-old's wife should be in a less serious situation. The 38 year old, on the other hand, is in a reserved prognosis, with respiratory failure and his conditions are considered very serious, so much so that he is not currently transferable. The other three people infected could have had contact with one of the first three cases, they arrived at the Codogno hospital (Lodi) in the night with a clinical picture of pneumonia.

Coronavirus Milan, identified the 'patient zero', manager returned from China

The 'zero patient' of the coronavirus outbreak in Lombardy has been identified. He is a 28 year old man who works in a Fiorenzuola d’Arda company and has returned from a trip to China. Initially it was negative for tests carried out at the Sacco hospital in Milan. But the Istituto Superiore di Sanit? has confirmed that man has fallen ill, albeit in a lighter form. Normally the 28-year-old manager spends most of the year in China, with limited periods in Italy. He returned from China between January 20 and 21, but he has always been well (and still is healthy), except February 10, when he had mild flu symptoms. Immediately there had been doubts.

The 'patient 1' is, instead, a 38-year-old man from Codogno, also infected his wife, who is hospitalized in the Sacco hospital in Milan, and four other people residing in the same area, hospitalized with a clinical picture of pneumonia. About three hundred people under examination, including close colleagues, doctors and nurses from the Codogno hospital who helped him. In the last two weeks, the 38-year-old has had a very wide social activity: for example, he has participated in a running race and a soccer match. 150 'close contacts' will be buffered, plus 160 Unilever employees, who have been asked not to leave the offices pending the test.

Coronavirus, Gallera: 14 infected in Lombardy.

Update at 19 from Palazzo Lombardia

(LNews - Milan) The number of people infected by Coronavirus in Lombardy rises to 14. The councilor for Welfare of the Lombardy Region, Giulio Gallera, said during the press conference which was also attended by the president Attilio Fontana, the minister of health, Roberto Speranza, and the head of the national civil protection department, Angelo Borrelli.

"We have identified 8 other positivity - explained Gallera - including 5 health workers from Codogno Hospital and 3 patients. We have already carried out swabs on 120 employees who worked in the research and development area of the company of the first infected, and started swabs also to health workers and all people who have had direct contact.

The first 6 infected therefore are the 38 year old ('patient 1'), his wife and the boy who is part of the same running group. The other 3 people, all older, also frequented the same bar by the runner's father.

President Fontana and Minister Speranza signed an order with very precise measures concerning the area in which people who have been identified as positive live and move. The municipalities are: Codogno, Castiglione d'Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Maleo, Fombio, Bertonico, Castelgerundo, Terranova dei Passerini, Somaglia and San Fiorano.

Councilor Gallera then thanked the "health system for the work done uninterruptedly since yesterday evening which managed to identify connections and links".

President Fontana stressed that "The regional coordination table is always open, we are ready to react to any eventuality. We have taken measures that should not be understood as something that can be frightening but as something that can block the epidemic".

Coronavirus, 6 confirmed positive cases.

Update at 4.30 pm from Palazzo Lombardia

(LNews - Milan) There are 6 positive cases of Coronavirus confirmed in Lombardy. This was communicated by the Regional Welfare Councilor, Giulio Gallera, during a press conference convened at Palazzo Lombardia with the President, Attilio Fontana and the Councilor for Civil Protection, Pietro Foroni.

In addition to the first three positive cases, already reported this morning (the 38-year-old patient hospitalized in intensive care at the Codogno hospital, his wife and close contact already transferred to Sacco), there were three other positive cases that will be hospitalized in Sacco. For now, the subject that had been identified as a possible 'zero case', i.e. the one who returned from a trip to China could have transmitted the virus to the 38 year old, at the first 'buffer' was negative, it is therefore necessary to carry out further investigations to understand his real state of health.

Councilor Gallera also explained that over 200 people have been identified as close contacts in coronavirus positive cases, now in solitary confinement. For these subjects, a swab has already been made or will be made.

"We have 149 people who are contacts of the 38-year-old hospitalized in Codogno among nurses, relatives and acquaintances - there are those who work with him in the company and have had direct contact, and still those belonging to the sports activities he attended." - specified Gallera - three other people entered the emergency room of Codogno, one came alone the other two in an ambulance. To date, the only element we know is that they all live in the same area. We need to talk to them and their family members to find out if there is a connection. All three had serious pneumonia, which resulted Covid-19. "If you have been in contact with people positive for the virus and you have symptoms such as fever and difficulty breathing, the invitation is not to go to the emergency room but to call 112, who will send a team to do the swabs. "In this month - added Gallera - we handled 100 suspect cases, all of which were negative, which were held in isolation 4-5 hours to make the swab and presented with these characteristics".

PRESIDENT FONTANA, MEASURES WE TAKE TO AVOID DIFFUSION OF THE CONTAGIO: "The measures we take - said the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana - are the only means to avoid spreading the infection and should not be seen as something dramatic and worrying. It has been shown that this system contributes in a permanent way to blocking the spread. We must not spread panic but the measures, which we will be able to reevaluate after the meeting with Minister Speranza, which is coming, are fundamental for the good of the community ".

FORONI ASSESSOR: WE ARE LOOKING FOR SUITABLE STRUCTURES - The commissioner Pietro Foroni explained that the Lombard civil protection is meanwhile identifying suitable structures to eventually host people to be quarantined. "We are verifying civil structures, including military and ex-military ones suitable to host any quarantines. We are ready for any eventuality.

The first, a 38-year-old originally from Castiglione d’Adda and residing in Codogno, is admitted to the Codogno hospital in intensive care, with a reserved prognosis. This is the first case of local transmission of new coronavirus infection in Italy. The 29-year-old positive researcher, who today was declared 'substantially cured', came from Wuhan and the other two infected hospitalized in Spallanzani in Rome are Chinese citizens still from Wuhan, the city from which the virus originated.

• The pregnant wife of the 38 year old and his sports partner, hospitalized at the Sacco in Milan, national reference point for bio-emergencies together with Spallanzani, were also infected.

As soon as I arrive in Rome, I am planning a coordination meeting with Minister Speranza and Commissioner Borrelli for an update on new cases and to keep the phenomenon of "coronavirus in Italy under observation," said the Prime Minister from Brussels. Di Maio : "In these moments, a policy with a sense of responsibility is needed." Renzi: "With an emergency coronavirus support the government." Salvini attacks the Prime Minister: "Protect us or resign. Blind the borders".

Coronavirus, patient zero here from Shanghai: 'Wake up in the middle of the night'

The friend who may have infected him - the so-called 'patient zero' - was later tracked down and is now in solitary confinement at the Sacco hospital in Milan, where he has undergone the necessary tests. As reported by Corriere della Sera, the 41-year-old man's father reconstructed the whole story: 'They woke us up in the middle of the night. An ambulance arrived at half past two and the doctor swabbed us, then they gave Donato (a name invented to avoid actions of hunting the greaser, ed.) a mask and took it away '. He was also subjected to blood tests later and tested negative, as did parents who now feel more relieved. 'But finding yourself all of a sudden at the center of this story is not a good experience,' says the gentleman.

The manager may have been the vehicle of the virus, although it should be stressed that no tests have confirmed it so far. The 80-year-old interviewed has two other daughters and a grandson: the husband of one of his daughters, on the other hand, tested positive for the test. So the first medical hypothesis could be confirmed: he was infected with the virus but he also recovered.
The stages

The man works for the Mae company in Fiorenzuola d'Arda (Piacenza), which deals with plastic and carbon fiber, where he 'manages two factories in Shanghai'. He has lived permanently in Shanghai for 7 years now: 'Three or four times a year he visits us in Italy, in this house where he was born and raised, and stays with us for ten days. This time he was unable to come to the Christmas holidays and then he joined us later. ' He returned on January 21 with an Air China flight: this time too he had to stay a few days but 'he has not been able to leave again, given the situation that has arisen in China. This month, since he arrived in Italy, sometimes we commented on the news about the virus, but he has always been fine, we certainly didn't expect the scene the other night

Milan, Feb. 22 (LaPresse) - The two people who tested positive for the coronavirus test in the province of Pavia are a couple, husband and wife, both doctors. He is a general practitioner in Pieve Porto Morone, she is an operative pediatrician in the Lodi area. The authorities confirm this.

Coronavirus, a woman who died in Lombardy: she met 'patient 1' in the Codogno hospital

The coronavirus made the first victim in Lombardy: it is a 75-year-old woman. She had gone to the emergency room of the Codogno hospital, in the Lodi area, for a respiratory crisis, just on the days when the so-called 'patient one', the 38-year-old first found 'positive' to the virus, was also visited. An intersection in all probability was fatal to the pensioner: it would be, in fact, the source of the infection.

The 75-year-old, after being visited by the doctors, had returned home, where her condition had then worsened, to precipitate in the last hours: the woman went off to her home and the confirmation of the infection came after her death: the analyzes in fact, they were performed on the body after death. Meanwhile, the number of infections has increased in the region, where the first Italian outbreak was discovered on Friday: the number of cases ascertained now has risen to 32. The virus has also arrived in the Cremona and Pavia area.
