Clinical samples collection activity continues through Influnet laboratories network.
During current week (51/2010), 73 clinical samples have been collected by laboratories beloging to the network.
Among these, eighteen were positive for influenza virus.
Eight were type B, collected from patients respectively in the Teaching hospital of Genoa, Milan, Parma, Roma (Universit? La Cattolica).
Eight were type A H1N1 (2009) collected from patients in the Teaching Hospital of Florence; two other viruses were also collected by Rome ''La Cattolica'' Teaching Hospital and have not been subtyped.
Antigenic characterization performed on Type B viruses has demonstrated the omology of the isolates with the seasonal vaccine component reference strain.
