Italy influenza H5N1: a positive heron in Manfredonia - Puglia

The establishment of the infected area in the municipality of Manfredonia has started and within a radius of 10 kilometers following the confirmation of the positivity of a gray heron to the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) of the H5N1 subtype, communicated on 12 December by 'Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of the Venezie.

Upon input from the Department of Health Promotion and Animal Welfare of the Puglia Region, on December 16, President Michele Emiliano signed the order.

According to the IzsVe reports constantly updated on the epidemiological situation in Italy, the case in the province of Foggia was discovered on 4 November. In the map of the outbreaks, more widespread in Veneto and Lombardy, the province of Foggia has also appeared, especially for wild birds.
