Bologna, Man died after contracting West Nile Virus

A 86 years old man has died yesterday night at Sant?Orsola Hospital by heart failure after contracting West Nile Virus. The man was hospitalized at San Giovanni in Persiceto for a respiratory infection and subsequently transferred ? on September 4 ? after laboratory confirmation of a West Nile Virus infection with neurological symptoms. On September 5 his conditions deteriorated and passed away in the night. The fatality has been announced by Bologna Local Health Agency. This is the second victim of West Nile Virus, after another the case at Poviglio, Reggio Emilia province.
