An Israeli infected with A(H1N1) virus died Tuesday night, bringing the total number of this influenza-related deaths in Israel to 11, the country's Health Ministry reported Wednesday.
The patient, a 64-year-old woman suffering from chronic illnesses, died Tuesday night at Soroka University medical center in southern Israel's Beersheba, according to the ministry.
Though it was still uncertain that she died of A(H1N1) flu complications, the ministry policy is to attribute the unclear deaths of A(H1N1) flu patients to the virus.
Also on Tuesday, a 62-year-old woman infected with A(H1N1) virus died, bringing the total number of this pandemic-related deaths in Israel to ten.
About a dozen other A(H1N1) flu patients are still in intensive care units across the country, where official statistics showed that among some seven million residents, over 2,100 have been diagnosed with the global epidemic, and half of them are under the age of 30.
Israeli health experts have warned that some one quarter of the total Israeli population would contract the virus during a possible outbreak this winter, among whom around 700 would die.
The Israeli government has initiated a plan for precaution, including purchasing a large quantity of vaccines.
