Israel bans travel to US and Canada as it’s hit by ‘fifth wave’ of Covid-19
Israel has added the US, Canada and other European countries to the list of destinations to which its nationals are banned from travelling

Israel has banned travel to the US and Canada, while anyone arriving from the country will have to quarantine as its prime minister declared a “fifth wave” of Covid-19 infections in the country.
The US and Canada have joined a string of other European countries to which Israelis are barred from travelling, effective on Wednesday.
Israel has seen a surge in new cases of the more infectious coronavirus variant Omicron in recent weeks, and began closing its borders and restricting travel in late November. Foreign nationals are not allowed to enter, and all Israelis arriving from overseas are required to quarantine — including people who are vaccinated.
