Jerusalem, June 22 (IANS) The Israeli Health Ministry has reported 19 cases of West Nile fever diagnosed since the beginning of May, with several of them detected in the last two days.

The Ministry noted on Friday in a statement that 17 of the diagnosed patients were hospitalised, with three of them currently ventilated, Xinhua news agency reported.

All cases were detected in central Israel, said the statement, advising the public to take measures to reduce exposure to mosquitoes.​..

Two women in their 80s died on Saturday of what is suspected as West Nile fever, Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva announced.

The hospital said that it was waiting for lab results to give a definitive answer. Three more patients were suspected of contracting the disease.

Two of them were discharged in good condition and one was still hospitalized. The hospital was waiting for test results to diagnose them...


 
21 Israelis diagnosed with West Nile virus, two die over the weekend

Israel's Health Ministry announced on Sunday that there are currently 21 people diagnosed with West Nile virus, of which 17 have been hospitalized with neurological symptoms.

Of the confirmed cases, two patients died over the weekend at Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus, and there are currently three on ventilators.

Among the patients, the first individual diagnosed with the disease at Wolfson Hospital was a man in his sixties. He was found to be in a moderate condition at the time of diagnosis. ...

​The Israeli Health Ministry reported on Thursday that 81 people have been diagnosed with West Nile virus, 64 of whom have been hospitalized, with six on ventilators. A total of seven people diagnosed with the virus have died. Most patients who were diagnosed were from central Israel.

The ministry has emphasized guidelines for medical staff, instructing them to focus on diagnosing and monitoring the disease. The public is advised to use mosquito repellent products and appropriate equipment to keep mosquitoes away and to use fans in living areas, which help repel mosquitoes...

(MENAFN- IANS) Jerusalem, July 6 (IANS) The Israeli Ministry of health reported a fresh fatality from West Nile fever, pushing the death toll due to infections in the country to 12.

The ministry also reported on Friday 61 new cases of infection with the virus, increasing the total number of cases detected in the country since the beginning of May to 236, reported Xinhua news agency.

It is the highest annual number of West Nile fever cases since 2000, during which more than 400 cases of infection with the virus were diagnosed in Israel, according to the ministry's data.​..

The Health Ministry reports that 299 patients have been diagnosed with West Nile Fever in the current outbreak.

Fifteen people have died from the disease, caused by a mosquito-borne virus.

Two people are hospitalized in serious condition at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The two apparently contracted the virus while they were in the center of the country in recent days.​..

Deaths from West Nile fever in Israel surge to 31

Jerusalem, Jul 13 (IANS): With 12 new fatalities confirmed, Israel has recorded 31 deaths from West Nile fever since an outbreak in the country in early May, health authorities said.

The Health Ministry on Friday, in a statement, reported 49 new infection cases, bringing the country's total to 405, close to the annual record high of 425 cases in the year 2000, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Ministry attributed the high morbidity to warmer and more humid weather in the region, which is favourable to mosquitoes, a host that transmits the virus from birds through bites to humans.​..

Health Ministry reports 738 people have contracted West Nile virus in current outbreak

The number of patients diagnosed with West Nile virus has risen to 738, with 51 people dead since the outbreak began in June, the Health Ministry announces.

The ministry says that five of those who died were between 45 and 64 years old; 21 were 65-79; and 25 were over 80.

The virus has been in the country for many years, with incidents of West Nile fever occurring mainly between June and November. This year, they started earlier than usual, likely due to climate change in Israel and worldwide.​..
