Israel's first case of monkeypox was discovered in Israel on Friday evening in a man in his 30s who had returned from a trip to western Europe.

The man was in stable condition but was being kept under observation in quarantine.

The Health Ministry announced Friday night that it would investigate the monkeypox case, according to Ynet.

Israel reported on Friday its first suspected case of the monkeypox virus at Tel Aviv hospital where a man who reportedly came back from a trip to Western Europe was hospitalized.

Ichilov Hospital said that the man showed symptoms of the disease, but his condition is currently not life threatening, and he is being monitored while quarantining, Haaretz reported.

... The Israeli Health Ministry said on Thursday that it is taking measures to protect against a potential outbreak across Israel and ordered health care providers to be aware of any cases showing symptoms of the disease, The Times of Israel reported.

Israel is seeing its second case of the rare monkeypox virus in a 30-year-old man who recently returned from an overseas trip, according to reports in the Hebrew-language media Saturday.

According to the reports, the man was hospitalized on Friday at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, and was released after a short while. He was confirmed to be infected with the virus on Saturday.

The possible second known infection came just over a week after Israel discovered its first case of the virus in a man in his 30s who had returned from a trip to western Europe.

Last Sunday, the Health Ministry announced two additional suspected cases were ruled out by doctors...

JERUSALEM, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Israel's Ministry of Health on Thursday reported the country's fourth case of monkeypox.

The case is a 28-year-old man who recently returned from abroad and arrived at the Sheba Medical Center in central Israel with symptoms of the viral disease, according to the ministry.

A clinical sample was later tested at the Israel Institute for Biological Research, where the suspicion of monkeypox was verified, it added.

The Health Ministry on Monday announced three new monkeypox cases, including the first confirmed instance of community spread in Israel.

According to a ministry statement, the three cases were all among men from central Israel who are aged between 30 and 60.

The ministry did not give any further details about the case of the man infected in Israel nor specify in which countries the other two men were believed to have contracted monkeypox.

With the new diagnoses, there have been a total of nine cases of the rare disease confirmed in Israel. The first case was confirmed on May 20...

JERUSALEM, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The number of monkeypox cases in Israel rose to 66 with 11 new cases reported, the state's Health Ministry said on Monday.

In addition to the vaccines that have already been used in the country, Israel is purchasing third-generation vaccines against the virus, added the ministry.

It called again on the residents to see a doctor if they developed a fever, blistering rash, or were near a person suspected of being infected with the virus.

An upcoming shipment from the Danish manufacturer Bavarian Nordic is expected to include 2,000 vaccine doses, which will be enough to vaccinate 1,000 people, according to the Hebrew-language daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth...
