Ireland on Monday launched a 3.9 million Euro project to boost livelihood in drought stricken northeastern Uganda also known as Karamoja, a statement from the Irish Embassy said.
The three-year project is part of Ireland's five-year 29- million-Euro strategy to boost development in Karamoja whose population of about 1.1 million people ranks as the poorest in Uganda.
The project, to be implemented by Oxfam and 12 civil society organizations, will include value chain development, women's economic empowerment, national and local level policy advocacy, the supply of water for crop and livestock production and emergency response activities.
