PARIS, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Iran has reported an outbreak of the highly contagious H5N1 bird flu virus in poultry in the north of the country, the World Organisation for Animal Health said on Tuesday, citing a report from Iranian authorities.
The outbreak killed 10 birds out of a flock of 90, the WHO said. All other birds were culled.
The spread of avian flu has raised concerns among governments and the poultry industry after wreaking havoc on flocks around the world in recent years, disrupting supplies, driving up food prices, and increasing the risk of human infection.
