DES MOINES, Iowa - Doctors said an epidemic is spreading through central Iowa, leaving sick children in its wake. For pediatrician Dr. Nader Aljuni, the past few weeks have been busy because of a virus called hand, foot and mouth disease.

"Almost every day, we have at least one case," Aljuni said.
Doctors at Mercy Central Pediatric Clinic downtown report dozens upon dozens of small children sickened.

"We're seeing a lot kids with really sore hands, sores on their feet and sores on their mouth, so a lot of times they can't drink or eat...
