Officials confirm measles case in central Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) ? The Iowa Department of Public Health has confirmed a case of the measles in a central Iowa resident who flew from Chicago to Des Moines on May 11, and officials are looking for people who may have been exposed, the department said Tuesday...

Local and state health officials are trying to determine who the unidentified Dallas County resident may have exposed to the illness so they can be checked and treated if needed. They're looking for anyone who took a late-morning flight on May 11 from O'Hare International Airport in Chicago and visited the main terminal and baggage area in Des Moines.

Officials also are seeking those who visited the Mercy Central Pediatric Clinic and the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on that same day...

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Department of Public Health said no other confirmed cases of the measles have been reported in Iowa since an outbreak was first reported last week.

IDPH Medical Director Dr. Patricia Quinlisk said the passengers exposed to the measles on the American Airlines flight on May 11 were released from home quarantine on Wednesday.

The people who were exposed to the infected person in the hospital are set to be released from home quarantine on Saturday...

Measles Prompts Health Emergency in Central Iowa

A person from Dallas County traveling back from India brought measles to Central Iowa.

The person was on American Airlines Flight AA3695 on May 11th. The Public Health Department says anyone who was in the main terminal or baggage claim between 1 PM and 3:45 PM should check to make sure they have been properly vaccinated.

The person also checked in at the Mercy Central Pediatric Clinic on May 14th. If you were in or near the Main Entrance, including waiting room, registration, outpatient testing and blood draw station areas, you should also check your vaccination records...
