iOS 18.0.1—Apple Issues New Update Warning To iPhone Users

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone including:
  • Touch screen may be temporarily unresponsive in certain circumstances on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
  • Camera may freeze when recording macro mode video on the Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off on iPhone 16 Pro model ...
The first issue in Media Session, which could see audio messages able to capture a few seconds of audio before the microphone is activated, is only for iPhone 16 users, Apple wrote on its support page.​

The second vulnerability fixed in iOS 18.0.1 , tracked as CVE-2024-44204, could see your saved passwords read out loud by VoiceOver.​

Taking this into account, it is the most notable vulnerability of the two fixed in iOS 18.0.1, says Sean Wright, head of application security at Featurespace. “It is not great to have your password read out aloud,” he says.​ ...

This update fixes two security issues on your iPhone. One has to do with Apple's new Passwords app, and the other is in Messages.

According to Apple, iOS 18.0.1 fixes an issue in Passwords where the VoiceOver feature could read your saved passwords out loud.

Another issue iOS 18.0.1 addresses has to do with recording audio messages in Messages.

"Audio messages in Messages may be able to capture a few seconds of audio before the microphone indicator is activated," Apple wrote online.

Other issues iOS 18.0.1 addresses

The update also fixes a few other problems on your iPhone. Based on Apple's information, most of these kinks have to do with the iPhone 16 series, but a few other phone models could also be impacted. ...
