"International epidemic: Rabies, pertussis, measles, yellow fever, cholera, invasive pnenmococcal disease broke out last week in Indonesia, New Zealand, Ireland, Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, Thailand, Malaysia and USA. Dengue fever is epidemic in Republic of Senegal, Central and South America and Southeast Asian countries.

...according to Taiwan CDC surveillance data, there were increasing trend of the novel influenza A (H1N1) infections and indigenous Dengue fever last week, the domestic epidemic alert index of this week is, therefore, kept at red warning light signal."

"In Taiwan, a total of 872 notifiable infectious disease cases were reported last week, and among those 498 were acute and 374 were chronic; 26 cases died. As for the clustering on disease outbreaks, 2 outbreak events were reported (diarrhea).
Last week, 76 more confirmed cases of indigenous dengue fever broke out, a total of 723 indigenous dengue cases were confirmed, and 19.9% were geographically linked to Siaokang District and 34.0% in Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung City. As to the mosquito disease vector indices, those of Kaohsiung City, Kaohsiung County, and Pingtung County are higher than others and all exceed the critical threshold.
International epidemic: Mumps, Salmonella serotype Typhimurium, Nonovirus broke out last week in England and Wales, US and Finland. Dengue fever is epidemic in Southeast Asian countries. Taiwan CDC reminds all travelers to these areas to take adequate precaution and preventive measures."
