Influenza virus on the move in ND

Nearly three full months before the influenza virus is supposed to be at its worst in North Dakota, cases are already being reported.
Lindsey Vanderbush, influenza coordinator with the North Dakota Department of Health, said 12 cases have been reported in the last few weeks and more are coming in every day...
While no official cases have been reported in Williams County, Vanderbush said she has heard of the flu and official reports are on the way...

North Dakota has experienced an early spike in influenza cases for the 2012-13 season. According to the state Health Department, there have been 625 cases statewide since Sept. 1, and one person has died from the illness.
Eighteen people have been hospitalized for influenza since this fall. The death occurred in the northeast part of the state, according to the health department. The health department did not specify what county the death occurred in. It only said it was a person who was over the age of 65.
