Nine people have been hospitalized in Lewis and Clark County because of influenza, a county health official said.

And of the 645 people statewide who have been diagnosed this year as having pertussis, about 90 of those whooping cough cases were in the Helena area.

Mike Henderson, disease control and prevention administrator with the Lewis and Clark City-County Health Department, said on Monday that the hospitalizations because of flu have all occurred since the start of December.
