RI Health Minister to speak at Int`l Medical Conference in Oxford

Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari who is also the writer of the controversial book "It`s Time for the World to Change," is makng a three-day working visit in Britain starting March 28 during which she will attend an international medical conference in Oxford.
The minister who arrived in London accompanied by three of her senior aides, was scheduled to present a paper at the Medicine Global Health Conference 2008 to be held March 29-30 at the Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital, the counsellor for economic effairs at the Indonesian Embassy in London, Tumpal Hutagalung, said on Saturday.
Supari would present her paper titled "Disaster Relief and Emerging Epidemics" together with WHO (World Health Organization) special envoy Dr David Nabarro and Dr Alex Van Tulleken at the conference themed "Evolving Problems and New Perspectives".
The minister would later also meet members of the Indonesian community in London.
Featuring 50 speakers and attended by some 400 delegates, the international medical conference would among other things discuss the topic "Tackling HIV/AIDS in Resource-Poor Settings" with Professor Harold Jaffe, Hope Chigudu, Edward Scott and Dr Helen Weiss as resource persons.
The conference would also discuss the international aid issue based on a paper titled "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" to be presented by Lord Nigel Crisp and Dr Ruth Levine.
Another topic, "Mental Health in the Global Community," would be taken up by the conference based on presentations by Professor Lewis Wolpert, Professor Norman Sartorius and Dr Derek Summerfield.(*)
