"Total loss is estimated at Rp115 billion," said Secretary General of the Council of Leaders National Association of Indonesian Farmers (HKTI) this Tuesday (15/1). The original Indonesian is "dari 420 ribu" for anyone who might speak it. Google Translator tells me that "ribu" is thousand. So to me, it's either 420,000, or possibly 1,420 (420 + 1,000).

Google translator translates both "420 ribu" and "ribu 420" as "420 thousand" for what it's worth.

Re: Already "420 Thousand" Dead Ducks Attacked Bird Flu

420 thousand dead duck. It was already reported as over 350,000. This is a low number, as I can't post all the dead bird reports. 750,000 I say, and will go higher mainly because..

There is no vaccine for weeks and no guarantee it will actually be effective.

Using the old vaccine that has to be doubled up on, is running out.

The use of an old vaccine to fight the new strain will lead to unpleasantries.

1/3rd of reports say the new strain doesn't attack chickens and humans can't get infected.

1/3rd of reports say the total of birds killed or dying are not reported, due to farmers selling the sick birds or throwing them in the river, beside the road or feeding to the fish.

1/3rd of reports say the birds were sick with intelos or newtown disease or bad weather or firecrackers or storms or bad food or fowl cholera or volcanoes or were killed by something other than bird flu AND ARE NOT ACTUALLY COUNTED as KILLED DURING THIS OUTBREAK.:D

and yes there is a link to all of the above somewhere.:tiphat:
