Child patients, Desi (26), said his mother was
experiencing symptoms of fever and shortness of breath on Thursday, February 24 and approximately at 18:00 pm. Because the body temperature and respiratory condition did not improve, the family brought the patient to Dr. Slamet Garut Hospital for treatment.
"But by the hospital, my mother entered into the isolation room. I do not know exactly what the cause. Just on Thursday that my mother has a fever and shortness of breath. We had time to care for her at home. Because the condition does not go away, we brought him here, "said Desiree when found in dr Slamet Garut, on Friday (02/25/2011).
Isolation room nurses dr Slamet Garut, Asep Roni Heryanto, confirming the patient's condition at admission to hospital was in a state of high fever and shortness of breath. He mentioned, the patient's body temperature at admission to the hospital exceeds the normal limit, which is 39 degrees Celsius.
"It's the time of entry and checked by a doctor here, his condition showed symptoms of bird flu patients, such as body temperature above normal limits. We immediately gave him some antibiotics, vaccines, drugs tamiflu, and oxygen to relieve shortness of breath. Alhamdulillah, this time his condition has slightly improved with decreasing body temperature to 36 degrees Celsius. But we still continue to give her oxygen because of shortness of breath had not yet subsided, "he explained.
Asep alone can not ensure that patients are treated in isolation space is positive of bird flu disease. To be sure, he added,
nasal and oral fluid samples of patients were sent the hospital into medical lab in Jakarta.
"I myself can not ensure. New result we know tomorrow. Because the nasal and oral fluid samples we just send it to laboratories in Jakarta just now. It's just really, since the H5N1 virus epidemic in Sub Banyuresmi some time ago, this patient has been active in the examination of many carcasses of dead chickens there, "he said.
