that clears up the genders, and relationships, of the patients (and fatalities) in Bogor Indonesia.



I would like to confirm that Ruslani (30) previously reported as 'sister' is actually brother of Nurul, the first victim who died. In the other hand, Nurul is a female. Nurul and Ruslani had died due to infection, meanwhile now their brother Ridwan (35) is developing same symptoms as his siblings. I can't confirm anything about this, but just say they are strongly suspected to contract bird flu virus until the next update.



So Ruslani is a male. Nurul is a female. And Ridwan is a male. Two brothers and a sister.

The two fatalities in mid-January were therefore, brother and sister.

In mid January we have an index case for a potential cluster with the infection of Nurul Hikmah (27F) about Jan 14. She dies, as does her brother, Ruskani (30M), about Jan 16. A third sibling, Ridwan (35M), begins exhibiting symptoms on February 7. I believe all three of these individuals are from Cilendek Barat, an outlier of Bogor City.

Meanwhile, on February 3, Sumarni, a young child from Kedung Waringin in the Subdistrict Tanah Sareal, Bogor City, develops fever and possible bird flu symptoms. The map belows shows that Cilendek Barat and Kedungwaringin are only a couple of miles apart. The specific location of the RT/RW groups noted by Commonground above are uncertain, but are mostly likely located in this same general area.

This small area could potentially have 12-15 human H5N1 infections since mid January.
