JAKARTA, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has received 24.9 million U.S. dollars from the Pandemic Fund to enhance its readiness and response capabilities for health crises, including future pandemics.

"Indonesia will showcase its role as both a donor and a beneficiary through this Pandemic Fund, displaying demonstrable achievements in improving national, regional, and global health crisis preparedness and response," said Indonesia's Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin on Sunday.

This funding program is part of a larger initiative recently approved, which involves many countries and regions. The three-year program will be implemented with support from the World Bank, the World Health Organization, and the Food and Agriculture Organization.

Launched in November 2022 during Indonesia's G20 presidency, the Pandemic Fund is the first multilateral financing mechanism dedicated to helping developing countries improve their preparedness for future health crises.
