JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia Wednesday officiated an integrated bird flu center in Tangerang municipality, Baten province, which is part of an anticipation to possible pandemic situation of the deadly disease in the country.

The center is a pilot project before the establishment of similar projects in other Indonesian regions.

The project was jointly established by the governments of Indonesia, Singapore and the U.S, said Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie after signing memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Singapore Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan.

Citing Bakrie statement, MetroTV television said the cooperation between the three countries will be effective within three years since the MOU was signed.

Contribution of each party to the project is US$2.25 million from Indonesia, $1.5 million from Singapore and $900,000 from the U.S., said Bakrie, adding that Indonesia also receives equipments from the U.S. and tamiflu from Singapore. (**)
