It's not clear if this 5 yr-old bf patient, Nur Setianing Praise, who reportedly died on June 14 is the same as "T.S." confirmed by the WHO as having been infected by H5N1 but reportedly died on June 16:

At least two different villages are involved -- the two siblings are from one village -- this Nur Setianing Praise is from another. Don't know where T.S. is from, though.

I will dig up the names of the different villages later (gotta run right now). But, they are all in the neighborhood of the bigger town/city Tulungagung where, apparently, the main hospital is.

Looks like Nur Setianing Praise is probably the same child as "T.S." [Tyo Setyaning Praise] confirmed by the WHO. Nur Setianing Praise/T.S. was from Sukoharjo village, Bandung Subdistrict -- the two brothers who have not been confirmed are/were from Budget Village, the Sukowiyono Village, the Karangrejo Subdistrict. Different villages -- different districts (may, of course, be nearby though) -- outlying Tulungagung town/city. All three were treated at Hospital Dr Iskak Tulunggagung.

Tulungagung Alert Burung Flu [Bird Flu]

Just a small point for those who are mapping this. This is not the Bandung of West Java that has had so many cases, but the Bandung subdistrict of Tulunggagung in East Java.

One wonders whether such young children are prone to catch the virus because they run around barefoot, constantly putting hands, etc. in their mouths... or whether the virus just attacks their immune system more lethally than it does adults.

Or maybe its both.

Can anyone recall an Indonesian child that age being hospitalized and making a recovery? I don't.

Of the approximately 22 Indonesian H5N1 cases that were 10 years old or younger, five (5) are reported as recovered and one of the two brothers listed above (cases 636 and 637) is apparently still sick and in the hospital.
