Bird Flu Infects Humans in South Kalimantan, Minister of Health Budi Reveals Some Evidence of Findings

Bird Flu Infects Humans in South Kalimantan, Minister of Health Budi Reveals Some Evidence - Cases of Bird Flu that spread from birds to humans were reportedly found in South Kalimantan.
Regarding information on the transmission of bird flu from animals to humans, the Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin opened his voice.
Menkes Budi said reports of cases of bird flu that were suspected of infecting humans in South Kalimantan in early February 2023 still have to be scientifically proven.

"They said there was (bird flu transmission to humans), but it had to be a science base and evidence base. We have to look at the surveillance on the poultry, on the animals, if there are animals that suddenly die a lot," he said, Friday, March 3, 2023.

Minister of Health Budi said the research team would speed up blood sampling for testing using the genome sequencing method.
So that the type of virus that has in the patient can be known.
"If it turns out he's H5N1, it's Bird Flu. There's contamination from animals or poultry there. So our surveillance is usually because it's transmitted from animals, now this is from poultry and we're looking into it," he said.

He explained, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) had collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) in surveillance efforts in the field. However, he stressed, until now there has never been a human-to-human transmission of bird flu.
However, preventive measures must be taken. People are encouraged to wear masks, wash their hands frequently, and increase supervision."Indeed, the case after the Covid-19 pandemic that must be paid attention to is influenza, this influenza is a virus that uses the names H, N, H1, N1, H5N1, H3N3. Everyone uses H and N," he said.:tiphat:https://fin-co-id.translate.goog/re...tr_sl=id&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc

If the minister of health said there has never been human-to-human transmission of H5N1, historically he is incorrect. It has spread human-to-human before - just not efficiently.

For a pandemic to happen there needs to be efficient and sustained transmission. Efficient means that the virus has developed the exact code to unlock the human cells to gain entry and sustained means that the virus has learned how to copy itself many times so that a human body is fully infected and can easily transmit the virus to other humans - who then infect other humans, and on and on and on.

We must pay attention to diseases that appear after the COVID-19 pandemic, namely influenza
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized the need for scientific proof in connection with reports of cases of bird flu suspected to have spread to humans in South Kalimantan in early February 2023.

"The cases of bird flu transmission to humans must be proven based on scientific data and evidence. :coffee:We have to oversee the surveillance of poultry and check how many sudden death cases are occurring in birds," he noted after inaugurating the Kanigata Building at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Jakarta, Friday.

Sadikin called on the research team to collect blood samples at the earliest for testing through the genome sequencing method in a bid to check the type of virus variant in the patient.

"If it turns out that the virus is H5N1, then it is bird flu with contamination from animals or poultry. Our surveillance team is checking the condition of the poultry in that area," he remarked.

Sadikin noted that his ministry has collaborated with the Agriculture Ministry regarding surveillance efforts in South Kalimantan.....:tiphat: https://en.antaranews.com/news/2745...ports-of-bird-flu-transmission-to-human

South Kalimantan
apahabar.com, BANJARBARU - Bird Flu clade 2.3.4.4 was found in two districts in South Kalimantan, Hulu Sungai Utara and Tanah Bumbu.

"We are doing this fast action to prevent and control bird flu in Banua," said South Kalimantan Kadisbunnak Suparmi, Saturday (4/3).

Suparmi admitted that he had taken various steps in handling this bird flu. Such as coordinating with the Banjarbaru Veterinary Center and the Banjarmasin Quarantine Center.

This is intended to increase awareness and anticipatory action to prevent the spread of the HPAI Sub Type H5N1 virus or bird flu in South Kalimantan.

As well as efforts to minimize economic losses in the community considering that the livestock infected with H5N1 are smallholder poultry farms.

Steps that have been taken, namely increasing biosecurity and biosafety at poultry farm locations, the environment around poultry pens and markets to prevent all possibilities of transmission (contact) with infected livestock and prevent the spread of the virus.

"Furthermore, by increasing public awareness (public awareness) through Communication, Information and Education (IEC)," he said.

Suparmi said that his party had also improved traffic control of poultry and poultry products by activating Outbreak Investigation officers to carry out surveillance and tracing.

Then, provide guidance to poultry owners/breeders regarding vigilance and reporting if clinical signs are found that lead to Avian Influenza which can be in the form of decreased production or sudden death.

His party has also coordinated with the health office in 13 districts/cities regarding alertness and prevention of the spread of HPAI cases.

"Alleged cases of Avian influenza in humans and carrying out an integrated epidemiological investigation with relevant agencies including the Banjarbaru Veterinary Center," said Suparmi.

Suparmi ensured that the poultry infected with bird flu was safe for consumption by means of proper cooking.

"It's safe to eat. So people don't need to worry or panic," he stressed.

Separately, the South Kalimantan Kadinkes, Dr. Diauddin said cases of bird flu that attacked poultry also had the potential to infect humans. However, the potential for transmission is quite low, so people don't need to panic.

"Together with the South Kalimantan Plantation and Livestock Service (Disbunnak), we have conducted a survey and issued a circular," said Diauddin.

If cases of suspected bird flu are found in humans, they must be reported immediately within no more than 1x 24 hours.

"We have also distributed bird flu medicines to districts/cities. The point is that people should not panic, because the bird flu case has only affected poultry, it has not yet infected humans," said Diauddin.

"Even if it also infects humans, sufficient steps have been prepared such as the availability of medicines and hospitals," he continued.

As for the efforts to prevent transmission of bird flu to humans that can be done, among others, do not make contact with infected birds.

"Then use masks and gloves, and always get used to living a healthy and clean life, including washing hands after handling poultry," said Diauddin.:tiphat:https://banjarmasin.apahabar.com/po...ah-tangani-flu-burung-di-banua-let7ouhv
