KPK Arrests Former Health Minister Siti Fadilah in Medical Equipment Graft Case
Jakarta. Former health minister Siti Fadillah Supari was arrested on Monday (24/10) as part of an investigation by the national antigraft agency into alleged corruption related to the procurement of medical equipment during Indonesia's bird flu emergency.
Siti, who served as minister under former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono between 2004 and 2009, was named a suspect in April 2014, for her alleged involvement in a scheme to mark up the prices of crucial medical equipment at the height of the bird flu emergency in 2007, believed to have resulted in state losses of at least Rp 6.8 billion ($522,000).
