Regarding an earlier discussion theorising the meaning of "flattest" as meaning "suspected" this quote uses "flattest" in same sentance as "suspek." So.....we still need to figure out what "flattest" means.

Was based on the research it was known, 80 positive cases 62 including dying, 14 cases probable 4 including dying, 215 cases suspek 58 including dying, 1 flattest case, and 671 cases not Bird Flu.

Jakarta- A 6-year-old Indonesian girl who died after being rushed to a hospital in Central Java last week was confirmed to have succumbed to bird flu, a senior health official said Friday. The girl, named Qumilah, died suddenly on January 19 at a hospital in Yogyakarta province after undergoing only 90 minutes of treatment.

"She died of bird flu," I Nyoman Kandun, director-general for infectious diseases at the Indonesian Health Ministry, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

The death was Indonesia's 63rd from 81 cases of the H5N1 avian influenza virus - the highest rate in the world - and sixth this month.

Vietnam has had 42 human deaths from bird flu but none in more than a year.

Last week, the Indonesian government banned backyard chicken farms in residential areas in nine provinces, including across the densely populated island of Java, after four people suddenly died of bird flu.

The Jakarta city administration gave residents until the end of January to get rid of backyard chickens and other fowl before officials launch door-to-door confiscations.

Health authorities have already begun destroying thousands of chickens in the capital, and until February 1, people will receive about 1 dollar and 40 cents in compensation for each bird surrendered.

Indonesia's backyard poultry population is estimated at about 350 million, of which 280 million are on Java.

Most bird flu victims globally had direct or indirect contact with sick birds, but scientists fear the virus could mutate into a form easily transmissible among humans, sparking a global pandemic that could kill millions.

Indonesia was initially criticized for its lack of response to halt bird flu after it was discovered in the country in 2003, but made substantial progress in 2006, international health officials have said.
