Hundreds of Chickens Affected by Avian Influenza in Rejang Lebong

Sunday 08 April 2018

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REJANG LEBONG - Animal Health Center officer Curup, Rejang Lebong regency, Bengkulu province said the number of poultry that died due to bird flu indication indicated in the area reached hundreds of tails.

"The number of dead chickens in the location of laying hens in Lubuk Belimbing I Village, Sindang Beliti Ilir Sub-district is currently more than 600 heads," said Head of Puskeswan Curup, Firi Asdianto at Rejang Lebong on Sunday (8/4).

Chickens indicated bird flu is indicated in the District Sindang Beliti Ilir (SBI) and not within the District of Padang Ulak Tanding as he previously delivered. The number of poultry that died in the cattle ranch, make Puskeswan Curup together with Health Officials Rejang Lebong conduct direct checks to see the development at the scene.

The downfall of local health officials is to anticipate the possibility of the risk of transmission of bird flu disease to humans, because the disease is zonotic or can be transmitted to humans. This health worker in addition to making observations, also check the livestock officers and residents around the site to see the presence or absence of symptoms of the spread of the disease.

Firi has also been spraying farming pens owned by laying hens in SBI sub-district so as not to contagious, then suggested the voters to isolate livestock in the cage. If found dead to be directly burned or buried and should not be thrown away at random.

"Officers managing this farm we recommend using equipment such as masks and gloves to prevent transmission," he said.

The case of chicken livestock death after we check with rapid test positive bird flu, but for certainty is still waiting for the results of the examination of samples sent to the laboratory of animal health in Bengkulu.
