"The report is on the 7.5 million doses of Tamiflu that the Government of RI has in stock. So far they have used about 300k. They expire in 2010.
The Head of the Health department said that the medicine was bought in preparation of a pandemic which did not happen as they effectively controlled the outbrakes of the Bird flu.
Tamiflu has been effective in treating BIrd Flu. They also comment on the plans to refresh the stock with up to 30 million doses and one expert is saying that it is better for the central government to pay than to have it as an expense on regional administrations"
They used 300k; that is a lot, even if you take into account use out of precaution (cullers, medics). The iceberg was lifted for a few seconds here?
