BIRD FLU PATIENT Heals

KN (F, 1.2 years), North Jakarta resident who tested positive for H5N1 virus (bird flu) based on the results of Laboratory Research and Development Agency Ministry of Health, declared cured after being treated intensively in AI referral hospital in North Jakarta. Until now KN conditions remain healthy.

KN started getting ill on 3 April 2011 with symptoms of fever, cough, diarrhea and shortness. The patient recovered from surveillance activities SARI (Severe acute Respiratory Infection), which is coordinated Balitbangkes. She was referred to the hospital on 8 April 2011 and is getting treatment at the referral hospital care with a diagnosis Bronkhopneumoni.

To identify risk factors, we conducted an epidemiological investigation into the patient's house and surrounding environment. The strongest risk factor, a week before the ill patient were invited his father to the market near his house to buy free-range chicken and KN participated holding the chicken.

Tjandra Yoga Aditama as the focal point of IHR (International Health Reagulation) has informed also about the case to the WHO.

PASIEN FLU BURUNG SEMBUH

KN (P, 1,2 th) warga Jakarta Utara yang dinyatakan positif tertular virus H5N1 (flu burung) berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan Laboratorium Badan Litbangkes Kementerian Kesehatan, dinyatakan sembuh setelah dirawat secara intensif di RS Rujukan Flu Burung di Jakarta Utara. Hingga kini kondisi KN tetap sehat.

KN mulai sakit tanggal 3 April 2011 dengan gejala demam, batuk, diare dan sesak. Pasien ditemukan dari kegiatan Surveillans SARI (Severe Acut Respiratory Infection) yang dikoordinasi Balitbangkes. Ia dirujuk ke rumah sakit tanggal 8 April 2011 dan mendapatkan penanganan perawatan di RS rujukan tersebut dengan diagnosa Bronkhopneumoni.

Untuk mengetahui faktor risiko, telah dilakukan penyelidikan epidemiologi ke rumah penderita dan lingkungan sekitar. Faktor risiko yang paling kuat, seminggu sebelum sakit penderita diajak ayahnya ke pasar di dekat rumahnya untuk membeli ayam kampung dan KN ikut memegang ayam tersebut.

Dirjen Pengendalian Penyakit dan Penyehatan Lingkungan Prof. dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama selaku focal point IHR (International Health Reagulation) telah menginformasikan juga tentang kasus ini ke WHO.

A year-old girl with initial KN, resident of North Jakarta had been tested positive bird flu H5N1 infection by the Laboratory of Health Research and Development the Ministry of Health. She had recovered after been treated intensively on a bird flu referral hospital in Jakarta. She is now in a good condition.

KN started to feel sick with signs such as fever, coughing, diarrhea and breathing difficulty. She was observed through a surveillance of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) managed by the Ministry of Health. She was referred to the hospital on 8 April 2011 and diagnosed of having bronchopneumonia.

Patient has history of visiting a wet market with her father to buy a native chicken, and she had direct contact with the chicken.

The case has been reported to the WHO by the focal point of International Health Regulation, Prof. dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama.

Avian influenza ? situation in Indonesia - update 5



3 June 2011 -The Ministry of Health of Indonesia has announced a confirmed case of human infection with avian influenza A(H5N1) virus.

The case is an 1 year old female from North Jakarta district, DKI Jakarta Province. She developed symptoms on 3 April, and was referred to a hospital on 8 April. She has fully recovered.

One week prior to onset, the case went to the wet market with father to buy local chickens. The case handled chickens at the market.

Laboratory tests have confirmed infection with avian influenza A(H5N1) virus.
Of the 178 cases confirmed to date in Indonesia, 146 have been fatal.
