Solopos.com, KLATEN — Chikungunya disease has started to rage in Klaten in recent weeks. Residents are asked to remain aware of the potential for the spread of chikungunya disease in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Head of the Division (Head) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (P2PM) of the Klaten Health Service (Dinkes), Anggit Budiarto, said chikungunya is suspected to have attacked several areas in Bersinar Regency. It was like in Trucuk, Ceper, and Cawas.
"We have received reports from several residents in the area. We are conducting epidemiological investigations as well to confirm that it is indeed chikungunya. This needs further attention. Moreover, the condition is also like this [the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing]," said Anggit Budiarto, to Solopos.com, Sunday (12/19/2021).
Anggit Budiarto said the symptoms of chikungunya are almost the same as dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). Among the symptoms, such as high fever and aches.
"If in an area there is chikungunya, there must be a potential for dengue fever as well. Hence, this must be prevented immediately. We already have efforts that must be made to deal with and prevent the spread of chikungunya," he said.
The same thing was explained by the Head of the Section (Kasi) for the Control of Animal Sourced Diseases for the P2PM Division of the Klaten Health Office, Wahyuning Nugraheni. Residents in Klaten who have been attacked by chikungunya disease were detected in Trucuk District, Ceper District, and Cawas District.
