Indonesia asks for international help fighting bird flu virus

JAKARTA, Indonesia -- Indonesia's president is pleading for international help in fighting the bird flu.

There have been five new deaths and one new infection confirmed this week alone in the sprawling nation. World health officials say Indonesia has the second highest number of bird flu deaths in the world, behind Vietnam.

The deadly H5N1 virus has been found among birds in two-thirds of the nation's provinces.

Indonesia says it simply can't afford to carry out the mass culling of birds in the infected areas (what about the swine?), as called for in basic virus containment guidelines.

Indonesia's president says he needs "full financial and technical support" to stamp out bird flu.

I was reffering to the fact that Indonesia in past tried to get patent rights to a vaccine and then claim they need money and when medicine is sent to them it suddenly disappears.
