Measles Spreads, 3,282 Cases Reported in 2025
The spread of measles in a number of areas is also influenced by low and uneven immunization coverage.
JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Measles cases have surged in several regions in Indonesia. A total of 40 extraordinary events have been reported throughout the year 2025. Uneven immunization coverage and suboptimal immunization achievements are the causes of the widespread transmission of measles.
Data from the Ministry of Health up to the 32nd week or around early August 2025 recorded that 40 extraordinary events have been reported in 37 districts/cities in Indonesia. Nationally, the number of suspected cases reached 22,074 cases, with confirmed positive cases amounting to 3,282 cases.
The highest number of cases is found in the age group of 1-4 years (45 percent) and 5-9 years (33 percent). Meanwhile, the regions with the most confirmed cases reported are East Java (842 cases), Aceh (623 cases), North Sumatra (450 cases), and West Java (371 cases)...
