Faralinda Sari said, if the inspection of dead birds in Kampar Regency has come out, and the results are positive for bird flu.
"But the clade has not yet released the results from the Bukittinggi BVET Laboratory. What is clear is that it has been positive for H5N1, the results have been released and that is enough for the time being," he said.
Apart from Kampar Regency, his team has yet to receive any reports of sudden death of poultry in other areas.
"What is clear now is that we urge you to remain vigilant, especially when in contact with poultry. The point is to maintain a clean lifestyle," he said.
Previously, Faralinda also appealed to the public to immediately report to the Regency/City Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service or the local Puskeswan staff, if there is a high death of chickens.
"Running biosecurity in the pen area, starting from limiting the traffic of people from outside, placing disinfectant liquid in the initial entry area of the farm. Change of clothes every time you enter and leave the cage and immediately wash it every day to cleaning the cage and spraying disinfectant regularly," he said.
Then he also appealed to housewives who shop at the market to buy chicken, to maintain personal hygiene, by washing clothes used from the market, washing hands and equipment used to handle poultry products with soap.
"So don't worry about consuming chicken and its products, because it is not transmitted through consumption. What you need to worry about is the secretions/liquids/mucus or dirt from the chicken that sticks to poultry products. Because the Avian Influenza Virus dies when heated at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius for a minimum 2-10 minutes. As long as poultry products are perfectly cooked, there's no need to worry about infection. Check with your doctor, if any family member has a fever or flu symptoms, after contact with poultry," he explained.
Previously, the Provincial Government of Riau, through the Health Office, had received a warning letter regarding bird flu cases from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). This is to follow up on cases of bird flu in humans in Cambodia.
