7 Residents of Sukahurip Garut Village Died Due to Diphtheria

As many as seven residents of Sukahurip Village, Pangatikan District, Garut Regency, West Java, died as a result of exposure to diphtheria transmission. In addition, positive confirmed cases of diphtheria in Garut have increased to ten people, nine of whom have received intensive care at Doctor Slamet Hospital, Garut.

From the results of laboratory tests from the West Java Health Office, six patients tested positive for diphtheria and three others were suspected of diphtheria. Therefore, the Garut District Health Office conducted laboratory tests for residents who had close contact with positive diphtheria patients.

The head of the Garut Regency Health Office's disease prevention and control (P2P) division, Asep Surachman, stated that his party continues to make various efforts to prevent diphtheria and track a number of people who have close contact with giving medicine and self-quarantine.
