The dengue fever outbreak that killed two people over the past two weeks in Sragen, Central Java, has prompted authorities to declare an emergency across the regency.

Sragen Regent Kusdinar Untung Yuni Sukowati said, as of Wednesday, at least 111 cases have been reported in 19 districts since Jan. 1, adding that Mondokan had 21 cases and Sumberlawang 15.

Separately in Brebes, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo instructed health agencies in other regencies across the province to monitor and collect data from areas prone to dengue fever...

akarta has entered a dengue fever extraordinary situation (KLB) alert period that will last until March.

?We predict that the risk of dengue fever will increase in the coming days and weeks during the rainy season in early 2019,? Jakarta Health Agency head Widyastuti said in a press statement on Sunday.

Widyastuti said that the areas categorized as having the highest probability of dengue fever incidents during the alert period in January were West Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta.

?In February and March, all areas throughout the city will be categorized as under alert," she said, as quoted by kompas.com.

She explained that the amount of rainfall and climate change had immensely influenced the growth of Aedes aegypti, the type of mosquito that transmits the dengue fever virus.

According to the agency?s 2018 data, 2,947 dengue cases were reported in Jakarta with an incidence rate (IR) of 28.15 per 100,000 people. The agency recorded two deaths, equating to a 0.07 percent fatality rate (CFR).

In 2018, the area with the highest IR in Jakarta was Thousand Islands at 41.4, followed by West Jakarta with 37.

Meanwhile, the agency recorded 3,362 dengue fever cases, an IR of 32.41, and one death, equal to a 0.03 CFR, in 2017...

More than 100 people have died of dengue fever this month, with the largest number of fatalities, 41, recorded in East Java, 13 in North Sulawesi and 12 in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), the Health Ministry has said.

Dengue had also killed people in 16 other provinces by Saturday, Central Java recorded nine fatalities, one in West Java and seven in South Sulawesi, the ministry?s director for vector-borne and zoonotic diseases Siti Nadia Tarmizi said.

The ministry has recorded at least 9,634 dengue cases in 372 cities and regencies across the archipelago during this year's rainy season when dengue-bearing mosquitoes are most active. By Saturday, four regions, Kupang city and West Manggarai regency in NTT, Kapuas regency in Central Kalimantan and North Sulawesi province had declared a dengue emergency according to Siti...

The Greater Jakarta area recorded a spike in the number of dengue fever cases in January as the mosquito-borne virus is on the rise in several regions of the country, forcing those regions to be on alert.

Jakarta alone recorded 613 cases of dengue fever as of Sunday, an increase of 183 within five days from the 430 reported as of Tuesday last week. No deaths have been reported.

Jakarta Health Agency head Widyastuti told the press on Monday that unlike in previous years when dengue fever cases were evenly distributed, the fever has only spiked in South Jakarta, East Jakarta and West Jakarta...

Bogor yet to be put on alert despite dengue cases

Bogor municipality has yet to put people on alert dengue fever despite an increasing number of cases in the area.

?The number of dengue case this year is higher than last year. But we?re still discussing it with the [Bogor] health agency,? Bogor Mayor Bima Arya said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.

There have been 121 dengue cases in January compared to only 42 cases in the same period last year...

JAKARTA, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Dengue fever have killed a total of 133 people across Indonesia since the beginning of January, forcing the authorities to step up alert against the Dengue virus, the health ministry said Thursday.

The ministry has recorded a total of 13,683 cases of the dengue-linked disease across the vast archipelago country, said Siti Nadia Tarmizi, director for vector-borne and zoonotic disease of the ministry.

An emergency status has been declared following the spike of the numbers of casualty and case, Nadia said.

"We have declared an emergency status because of the significant hikes," she said.

East Java province, followed by East Nusa Tenggara province and North Sulawesi province, is the worst hit by the virus, the director said...

Dengue death toll in Indonesia climbs to 132, eight regions declare emergency

JAKARTA ? The Health Ministry has recorded a sudden spike in dengue fever cases in the last four weeks, with the death toll rising to 132 by Jan. 29.

Peak dengue transmission typically occurs during the rainy season, when the dengue-bearing Aedes aegypti mosquito is most active.

The figures have increased rapidly in the five days from Jan. 25 to 29, from the 9,634 cases and 110 dengue-related deaths the ministry recorded across 372 municipalities and regencies up until Jan. 25.

The ministry?s data shows a total of 13,683 reported dengue fever cases from Jan. 1 to 29, with the highest number of dengue-related deaths recorded in East Java (47 deaths), followed by East Nusa Tenggara ( 14 ) and North Sulawesi ( 13 ).

?The number of cases could still rise,? the ministry?s director for vector-borne and zoonotic diseases, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, told The Jakarta Post on Thursday. ?But hopefully, the increase will not be significant.?...

Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - As many as 15,132 cases of dengue fever were reported in Indonesia, with 145 deaths, as of February 1, 2019, according to the Health Ministry.

East Java Province witnessed the highest number of dengue cases, at 3,074, with 52 deaths, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the ministry`s director for vector-borne and zoonotic diseases, stated here on Friday.

West Java ranked second, with 2,204 cases, causing 14 deaths; followed by East Nusa Tenggara, with 1,092 cases, resulting in 13 deaths; and North Sumatra, 1,071 cases, leading to 13 deaths.

Tarmizi noted that dengue fever could still be controlled, with several areas starting to witness a decline in the number of cases...

Bekasi records 128 dengue fever cases, one dead

With dengue fever on the rise in several regions of the country, the Bekasi Health Agency has recorded 128 cases of the mosquito-borne virus in the municipality, with one person dying in January.

The number of cases rose significantly from the 49 cases recorded in the same period last year, the agency’s head of disease control and prevention, Dezi Syukrawati, said.

She said the person who died was a resident of Sumur Batu, Bantargebang district...

A outbreak of dengue fever claimed eight lives in the East Sumba district of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), according to local media on Wednesday.

The number of those infected who were treated at a public hospital reached 338, Indonesia?s Antara news agency said, citing Chrisnawan Try Haryantana, head of the East Sumba health office.

The total number of people killed since 2019 due to the mosquito-borne disease in NTT province hit 18.

The health office, along with the regional authorities, have intensified efforts to prevent the spread of the disease in the region, it added.

More than 15,000 dengue fever cases at 145 fatalities were registered in Indonesia as of Feb. 1, according to the country's health ministry.

Earlier, the health ministry said that the highest number of dengue cases, more than 3,070, was reported in East Java province, with 52 people dead.

"The ministry recorded 53,075 cases of dengue fever in 2018, some 68,407 cases in 2017, and 204,171 cases in 2016," the news agency said...

Jakarta Health Agency head Widyastuti, who like many Indonesians go by one name, said on Monday (March 4) that a total of 2,282 people in Jakarta have been diagnosed with dengue fever in January this year.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 110,921 cases of dengue fever were recorded throughout Indonesia in the year ending October 31, 2019, according to the healthy ministry.

"The figure increased drastically as compared to 2018 when the country witnessed 65,602 dengue fever cases," stated Director of Vector and Zoonotic Communicable Disease Prevention and Control of the Health Ministry Siti Nadia Tarmizi on Tuesday.

One of the factors contributing to the significant rise in the number of dengue fever cases in 2019 was linked to several districts and cities in Indonesia declaring extraordinary occurrence, she pointed out.

The other reason attributed was the tendency of several people to not follow the routine practice of getting rid of mosquito nests, including collecting and cleaning used drinking bottles that may serve as mosquito nests, she stated.

The districts and cities that declared extraordinary occurrence status for dengue fever included Manado, Kupang, and Labuan Bajo.

Among the provinces in Indonesia, West Java recorded the highest number of dengue fever cases, reaching 19,240, followed by East Java, with 16,699 cases; Central Java, with 8,501 cases; Jakarta, with 8,408 cases; North Sumatra, with 5,721 cases; and Lampung, with 5,369 cases.
