Indonesia Records Two More H1N1 Deaths

JAKARTA, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Two people died of Influenza A (H1N1) at the Dr Soetomo district hospital in Surabaya today, bringing the overall death toll due to the pandemic in the republic to 1,005 people so far.

The assistant director of the hospital, Dr Urip Murtejo said the two patients, a woman and a boy, died after receiving treatment for four and five days respectively.

"After being infected by A (H1N1), both of them contracted pneumonia," he was quoted as saying by the Antara news agency.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's health ministry in a statement said the 1005 deaths were spread over 25 provinces in the country.

Patients Positive Influenza A H1N1 Add 57 Cases

Department of Health Research and Development Board dated August 23, 2009 reported the results of positive laboratory confirmation of influenza A H1N1 as many 57 people, 1 of them died. He is a man 21 years old from West Java died with severe respiratory distress and laboratory results showed a positive H1N1. Thus the cumulative number of positive cases of influenza A H1N1 numbered 1005 people spread over 24 provinces said Prof. dr. Well, yikes. Thanks for catching it! Anyway it'sa lot fewer than 1005, thank goodness.
