Indiana Child Dies of Mysterious Illness — Officials Fear There is a Threat to Public Health

The death of a child in Indiana has officials concerned the state could be facing an unknown public health threat.
The child, a 5-year-old elementary school student at Rogers Elementary School in Bloomington, died early in the morning Friday at the Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

Initially, doctors believed the child had died from meningitis. However, county coroner Joani Stalcup didn’t find any evidence of meningitis caused by the meningococcus bacteria, in an autopsy. Officials have said that the investigation into the death will continue, but declined to provide further information...
