Indiana health officials announced Monday the state's first confirmed measles case of 2025: an unvaccinated minor in Allen County. This marks the state's first measles case since early 2024.

The Allen County Health Department said the confirmation comes as part of an ongoing investigation in partnership with the Indiana Department of Health, but exposures to the confirmed case are minimal.

The patient is stable and recovering, and no other information will be released to protect patient privacy, according to state news release.​..

Another five cases of measles have been confirmed in Indiana, bringing the state's total to six so far for the year.

The Indiana Department of Health said the five new cases were three minors and two adults in Allen County. The department of health reported the state's first case on Monday, which was a child, also in Allen County.

Health officials said all six cases are connected to each other.

The four minors who were confirmed to have measles were unvaccinated, according to the Indiana Department of Health. Officials said the vaccination status of the adults is unknown.​..

Officials have confirmed that these new cases are connected to the initial outbreak in the area, though there is currently no known connection to any outbreaks out of state.​..

First measles case found in Putnam County

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — There is no outbreak — and the risk to the public remains low, the Putnam County Health Department says — but measles, a highly-contagious disease, has it’s first case in central Indiana.

Wednesday, the Putnam County Health Department announced a confirmed case of measles. Until now, Indiana’s only confirmed measles cases were is Allen County.

Statewide totals for the measles now rests at 9 cases. The Indiana Department of Health’s measles dashboard has not updated to reflect Putnam County’s confirmed case.​..​

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Parke County Health Department, along with the Indiana Department of Health, is investigating two confirmed cases of measles within the county.

According to a news release from the health department, the confirmed cases have infected two Parke County adults.

“One patient was not vaccinated, and vaccination status couldn’t be confirmed for the second patient,” said health officials in the news release. ” No additional information will be provided to protect patient privacy.”

Health officials added that there is no cause for community concern for spread from the two patients, who were isolated while infected.​..
