Government neglecting Chikun Guniya: Kodela
Tuesday April 11 2006 14:09 IST

GUNTUR: Former health minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and TDP leader Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Monday said that the state government has been sleeping over the outbreak of Chikun Guniya and has done nothing to plug the losses being faced by the poultry farmers due to the bird flu scare.

?As a practising doctor, I am warning the state government. If Chikun Gunya is not controlled, it may turn into a serious disease like Dengue,? he said.

The state has not taken any remedial measures to control the outbreak, he said adding that the government should set up committees headed by the collectors to launch an all-out coordinated effort to control the spread of the disease.

Re: Indian Government neglecting Chikun Gunya

I am waiting for any and all arguments against this being Pandemic Chikungunya.

All you have to do is make the case. I have made mine.

This is a request for any person that has the qualifications to refute this being Pandemic Chikungunya to do so.

I am trying to make a synthesis on the extension ofthe epidemic in the zone on http://chikplanete.blogspot.com/

We cannot still qualify this as a pandemic ( Global Epidemic) but the zone of Indian Ocean is at risk, notably the poor regions of India. One death has been reported lately.

From anarticle of MacKenzie (cf blog LSz of Lionel), the emerging diseases are all in expension in the world because of globalisation and the increase of traffic, workers migration, tourism, commerce...
