CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level at forecast sites)
According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 19.08.2014, there are 01 unprecedented, 02 High & 24 Moderate flood situation sites in the country.
UNPRECEDENTED FLOOD SITUATION
i) River Rapti at Balrampur in Balrampur District of Uttar Pradesh continues to flow in High FLOOD SITUATION at 1500 hrs today. At 1500 hrs, it was flowing at a level of 105.45 m with Falling trend which is 0.83 m above Danger level of 104.62 m and 0.20 m above its previous HFL of 105.25 m (2000-09-11).
HIGH FLOOD SITUATION
i) River Ghaghra at Ayodhya in Faizabad district, UP is flowing 93.95 (m) against the danger level 92.73 (m) with Rising trend.
ii) River Ghaghra at Elgin Bridg in Barabanki district, UP is flowing 107.46 (m) against the danger level 106.07(m) with Falling trend.
MODERATE FLOOD SITUATION
Assam
? River Bramhaputra at Goalpara, Distt. Goalpara, Assam is flowing 35.51(m) against the danger level 35.27(m) with Falling trend.

Flood situation
Uttar Pradesh
The 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh namely Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Lakhimpur Khiri, Barabanki, Sitapur, Azamgarh, Faizabad have been reported to be affected due to swirling river water, release of water from Nepal and heavy rainfall in the catchment area.
Approximately 861 villages in 10 districts and 8.10 Lakhs people have been affected. Reportedly 49 persons have so far lost the lives. So far about 40944 people have been rescued to safer places. In all 78 relief posts and 47 relief camps have been set up and necessary assistance including medical aid are being provided. Approximately 114 boats have been brought in service for rescue operations. 02 MI 17 Helicopters are being used for rescue and relief operations in district Bahraich.
Due to sudden cloud burst few villages in Muzaffarnagar are also effected as heavy rainfall has swollen the rivers Ganga and Solani in the area.
Water levels are falling over river Rapti at Balrampur, water level in river Ghaghra at Ayodhya is on a rising trend but is less below the previous HFL.
Uttarakhand
So far death toll has risen to 56 while 09 others are injured in separate incidents. Substantial damage/loss to the property and animal stock has been reported. Rain fall has stopped. Rescue & relief operation continues at various places though hampered due to continuous rain.
Bihar
08 lives have been lost in Bihar in the flood so far. The State Govt. has requested for assistance of the Army for dismantling of old bridge near Patna and for construction of a temporary bridge.
