Pune epicentre of swine flu Buzz Up Share

New Delhi, Aug 11 (PTI) Pune continued to be the epicentre and Maharashtra became the worst hit state for swine flu as the total number of cases in the country rose to more than a thousand with 119 cases being confirmed today. Maharashtra was the worst hit with Pune alone reporting 62 cases.
Mumbai was second with 24 cases and other Maharashtra cities like Nagpur, Nasik, Goa, reporting three and one each cases respectively. Delhi reported 15 cases, Manipal two, Ahmedabad one, Bangalore four, Osmanabad 1, Hyderabad 2, Trivandrum 2 and Jammu one.
Of the 15 cases from Delhi, one travelled from Manila in Philippines. The other 14 cases do not have a travel history.
Out of the 62 cases in Pune, one has a travel history to Saudi Arabia. Mumbai reported 24 cases during the day, two of whom had travelled abroad.
Karnataka reported six cases during the day. The one case was reported from Jammu and Kashmir, is a 23-year-old girl who has a domestic travel history to Mumbai and Pune in the recent past.
Kerala reported two cases during the day one of which is an indigenous case from Thiruvananthapuram. 5,000 persons have been tested so far out of which 1078 are positive.
655 out of the 5000 persons have been identified through entry screening, 949 through contact tracing and the rest were self reported.
