Namakkal: The district administration and the Animal Husbandry Department jointly conducted surprise inspections at poultry farms in several places, including Mohanur, as part of stepping up surveillance against bird flu, which broke out in Kerala recently, resulting in the death of a large number of chickens.

District collector Durga Murthy led the inspection on Saturday in the presence of Animal Husbandry Department zonal director Dr Palanivel. "We conducted the inspection at the poultry farms in Parali panchayat in Mohanur taluk along with animal husbandry department officials," the collector said.
